The AS/UCSB Community Affairs Board (CAB) is an official board of the Associated Students Legislative Council. We are comprised of active students who work to bring the campus and community together through service.
The AS/UCSB Community Affairs Board (CAB), UCSB’s Volunteer Action Center, is dedicated to enhancing the educational experience of all UCSB Students by providing information and easy access to community service work. Through a wide range of projects and community programs, CAB seeks to augment classroom experiences, create opportunities for career exploration, connect UCSB to the community in a meaningful way, and promote the ethics of public service.
- We organize volunteering opportunities!
- We advertise volunteering opportunities outside of CAB!
- We provide funding for organizations whose requests align with our mission statement and A.S. Financial Policy!
- We provide opportunities for leadership skills development and career exploration every year by opening up leaderboard applications during the Spring Quarter!
- We coordinate a large Volunteer Week event every Spring Quarter during Week 3 (some names you might recognize are Care Expo, Bookfair, etc)!
- We arrange a total of 2 week-long volunteer trips (open to everyone, free of charge) during Winter and Spring Break!
You can subscribe to our weekly newsletter, CAB Caremail, which has information on all of the volunteering opportunities CAB is organizing! It also includes the contact information/office hours of every CAB Leaderboard member.
You can come to our biweekly general meetings (Wednesday, 5 PM as of the 2025-2026 academic year) and meet with us in person! We provide free food, activities, and introductions/events from each CAB Leaderboard member.
Every Spring Quarter, CAB Leaderboard applications open up to every student (the link will be on our website and advertised on our Caremail)! If you would like to become directly involved, be on the lookout!
