Alternative Breaks

All Expenses paid volunteer trips

All UCSB students are invited to fill out the applications for both Winter and Spring Break! No previous volunteering experience is required, as we want to open up the trips to as many people as possible. Just come with a love for community service and the courage to brave unknown territory!

Applications open typically around Weeks 3 – 4 and close around Weeks 5 – 6 in Fall and Winter Quarter.

The flyer is posted in our CAB Caremail as well as on our Instagram (@ucsbcab). A university wide announcement typically goes out as well, so keep a lookout in your student email!

I could see the fruits of my efforts as well as the determination of my peers around me to help as much as possible. I learned that sometimes, you have to take a leap of faith in order to find out what truly makes you passionate.
ColinSan Diego Alternative Break
This trip was such a great learning experience and I am glad that I was able to make a small change with all the other UCSB students. One can give so much, but also gain so much knowledge from different traditions and cultures. This was the best spring break I could have asked for!

From digging through 3 feet of solid frozen mud, working in an area that used to have 5 lakes, and even rebuilding a church, I feel so humbled and honored to have volunteered with the BEST crew any person could have ever asked for. We worked so hard and I am sooo proud of all us.
